Loving the environment means more than loving the great outdoors. It means working to preserve it.

Since 2018, Subaru has partnered with TerraCycle.  Participating Subaru retailers collect hard-to-recycle trash that was headed to local landfills. We collect approximately 2 tons of this hard-to-recycle trash monthly, which will be converted to furnishings and other usable items and donated locally.

It’s our goal to make the pursuit of knowledge available to as many minds as possible.

Since 2015 Subaru, in partnership with the American Association for the Advancement Science, donated over 277,600 award-winning science books.  In addition, through our partnerships with Staples and we supported teachers and students with donations of S400,000 in gift cards and school supplies.

In a perfect world, hunger would be history and hope would be commonplace. We believe a perfect world is possible.

In 2020, Subaru and its retailers made a donation to Feeding America to provide 50 million meals to help feed people in need during the COVID-19 crisis,* making meals available at 199 local food banks across the country.
*$1 helps provide at least 10 meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of local member food banks.

We should all have a chance to lead a healthy life. We’re aiming to give as many people that chance as we can.

Since 2016, Subaru and its retailers have partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to donate over 167,000 blankets and 21,500 arts & crafts kits and reached nearly 150,000 patients in more than 780 hospitals nationwide.

Mid-South schools receive support for the future  –  Dennis R

Jim Keras Subaru defines leadership. Their team of salesmen and management are incredible, but it is their philanthropic heart that I would like to talk about in this brief story. Peer Power Foundation is a non-profit that recruits, trains, and employees college students to enter into the classrooms and support the teachers of high schools in Shelby County. The Keras family has helped our efforts to tutor in excess of 3000 high school students each week by sponsoring the Big River Crossing Half Marathon and 5K the last two years. This event benefited from having the association of such a community leader and the organization benefited by being able to serve even more high school students. The data of our success is incredible, much like the Jim Keras organization. If you would like to see more information visit our website at

Assisting Mid-South families through partnership  –  Janie W

Jim Keras Subaru has been a sponsor to the Forrest Spence Fund 5k for several years. The Forrest Spence Fund begins with the story of Brittany and David Spence's first child, Robert Forrest Spence, born on September 10, 2007. Shortly after birth Forrest developed complications and was transported to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, where he fought valiantly for life for 55 days before his illness overtook him.The Spences view this as a way for them and for others to support families dealing with similar difficult situations and to give back to regional children's hospitals like Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, Children's Hospital at Erlanger in Chattanooga, Baptist Women's Memorial Hospital, and St. Jude Children's Hospital where the amazing medical staff fought for Forrest and continues to fight for thousands of other children each year. We can proudly say that we have helped over 50,000 families across the Mid-South. We appreciate Jim Keras' support which allows us to continue our mission of assisting with the non-medical needs of critically and chronically ill patients and their families. At performances, we gather together to reflect on our identity as citizens of this unique and growing city. Seeing our impressions, observations, and stories come to life via Playback strengthens our shared community and lifts our collective civic spirits. Folks are always welcome to share a story, or just sit back and watch the magic unfold. All ticket proceeds from every Memphis Matters show go towards funding shows for our community partners. These shows take place within programs serving under served populations and benefit groups in need. Memphis Matters wouldn't be possible without the support of partners like Jim Keras Subaru. Humane Society "Mobile" Adopt a Pet Event  –  Katie P

Jim Keras Subaru in Memphis, Tenn., partnered with the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County as one of its local charities for the annual Share the Love event. HSMSC is a private nonprofit animal shelter focusing on injured and abused animals. In addition to benefiting HSMSC through Share the Love car sales donations, Jim Keras Subaru also invited the shelter to bring adoptable animals to the dealership for a mobile adoption. HSMSC staff and volunteers brought six adoptable dogs to meet potential adopters on Friday, Dec. 19: Tanner, a black lab mix; Keebler, a pit bull mix; Edgerton, an Airedale terrier mix; Wilhelm, a pit bull mix; Nix, a terrier mix puppy; and Butler, a lab mix. All of the animals thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet new people, explore a new place, and interact with one another. Nix, the puppy, got the opportunity to be the Service Department mascot for a few hours! Edgerton and Wilhelm, two of the "old men" of the bunch, took on the role of "fun police" and barked and fussed anytime one of the other dogs got too rowdy. Most of the dogs involved in the Jim Keras Subaru/HSMSC mobile adoption have been adopted!

Meal on Wheels for Pets?!?  –  Genevieve H

Several years ago, our volunteers noticed that some Meals on Wheels clients were saving a portion of each meal to share with their companion animals. In response to this critical issue, we began monthly deliveries of pet food to help these seniors keep their pets and still receive the nutrition they need to remain independent. In December, our Stuff the Forester event, in celebration of Subaru of America's Share the Love, resulted in much-needed community awareness and over 1,000 pounds of pet food, treats, toys, and beds for our seniors' pets was stuffed into the back of the Forester. According to our estimates, our media and social media promotion reached approximately 106,308 people's exposure that would have not been possible without Subaru's live commercial featuring the event. The benefits of this event have far exceeded our expectations, and thanks to the hospitality of Jim Keras Subaru's staff, especially Mark Jordan, it was one of the smoothest events we've had this year. The Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA) is incredibly grateful for our partnership with Jim Keras Subaru, and we hope it will continue!
