Trim Options and Exterior Features

The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek offers three available gas-powered trims: 2.0i, 2.0i Premium, and the 2.0i Limited. Plus, the forward-thinking manufacturer has also designed the Hybrid trim which comes standard with all 2.0i Limited features and some unique elements as well including 18-inch black-finish alloy wheels, the SI-DRIVE performance management system, and a blue interior accent trim. The 2021 Toyota C-HR and 2021 Mazda CX-3 both feature three trim models from which to select.

There are nine available color options on the 2021 Crosstrek with further standard integrated roof rails with a clean black finish. The Toyota C-HR features more colors to choose from, but no roof rails while the Mazda CX-3 offers only eight colors and no standard roof rails. The Crosstrek is the more sensible choice if you're looking for a balance of color customization and practicality in your next SUV.

Performance and Capabilities

This is where the new 2021 Subaru Crosstrek really shines! With a standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, 8.7-inches of ground clearance, and the available X-MODE with Hill Decent Control this adventure ready compact SUV is ready to tackle whatever terrain may lie ahead during your journey. The 2021 Mazda CX-3 features available All-Wheel-Drive for its three trim models at a raised price while the Toyota C-HR offers no AWD system. The Subaru Crosstrek should be the go-to choice for all sensible weekend warriors looking to make the most of what Bartlett and Cordova have to offer.

Which powertrain is right for you?

  • 2021 Subaru Crosstrek: Comes standard 2.0-liter SUBARU BOXER four-cylinder engine capable of generating 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque which has a 33-highway mpg rating. The Crosstrek Hybrid trim sacrifices a some horsepower but improves greatly on efficiency with a 90 mpge highway rating.
  • 2021 Toyota C-HR: Includes a standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine which produces 144 horsepower and 139 pound-feet of torque. This engine also fails to reach the high fuel-efficient ratings of the Subaru Crosstrek reaching only 31 mpg on the highway.
  • 2021 Mazda CX-3: Comes equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine which is able to provide 148 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque. This engine has a slight edge on the Subaru Crosstrek with a strong 34 highway mpg rating.

If you're looking for an engine that is as powerful as it is efficient, side with the Subaru Crosstrek. For the environmentally conscious choice, pick up the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid. It's restyled grill, re-tuned suspension, and great gas mileage make it a strong choice for those who want a commuter car with a powerful off-road feel.

Interior Safety Features and Cargo Space

Drive with added peace of mind knowing you and your passengers will be protected with the EyeSight Driveer Assist Technology standard on the 2.0i Limited and Crosstrek Hybrid trims, but also available on the 2.0i and 2.0i Premium trim models. The Toyota C-HR is tech heavy as well and features the standard Toyota Safety Sense system which includes an array of safety features. The 2021 Mazda CX-3 further includes a number of standard safety features such as Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and a Rearview Camera but doesn't quite live up to the vast amount of standard safety tech found on the Toyota C-HR.

A roomy interior is a key element in designing the ideal SUV. The Subaru Crosstrek features a standard 100.9 cubic feet of passenger volume across all trims except the Crosstrek Hybrid model. If you aim to swap out your passengers for your gear and groceries, the SUV has a maximum cargo volume of 55.3 cubic feet. The Toyota C-HR only offers 36.4 cubic feet of cargo volume with 83.8 cubic feet of volume for its passengers while the 2021 Mazda CX-3 provides 44.5 cubic feet of space with the rear seats folded.
