For the New 2018 Subaru Outback, Ringing in the New Year Means More Than a Few Upgrades

When the ball has dropped and the corks are all popped, it'll be time to wish the events of the past year a fond farewell. But that won't be without the promise of good times to come, and when Subaru rolled out the new 2018 Outback at the New York Auto Show, we knew there'd be plenty to which to look forward. So, what's new in-cabin and under the flagship hood of the new Subaru crossover SUV for 2018?

For one thing, style revisions abound. Exterior aesthetics to command attention give way in 2018 Outback to aluminum-alloy wheels in a choice of silver and machined black or dark gray finishes. Atop these, projector low-beam and immersive multi-reflector high-beam headlights, with fog lights in upper trims to pierce through the thick of inclement weather. Reach the top of the new Subaru Outback line, and you'll find LED steering-responsive headlights to make quick work of peering around corners as you turn.

Plus, behind new and improved sound-dampening glass – a peaceful ride created with help from a retuned suspension – a modified standard SUBARU STARLINK touchscreen infotainment system awaits your adventure. Now incorporating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to accommodate smartphones and media devices, it's easier than ever to access and control apps, adjust vehicle functions and more. Of course, these are in addition to a full slate of all the tech one could hope to find in a new Subaru SUV, from Bluetooth and Pandora and Aha support in lower Outback trims to voice control and optional navigation in those higher. Factor in the go-anywhere trifecta of standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, an available EyeSight® driver-assist suite, and optional Blind-Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and there's almost no venue off the beaten path for the new 2018 Subaru Outback.
